July finally arrived and with it came opportunities. Fountains of joy streamed down our faces when we won two of our matches and acid water spurted from our eyes when we lost the other two. Despite the fact that some of our teammates fell ill on the days of battle, we gritted our teeth and pressed on.
Just yesterday, my coach announced to us that we had made it through the valley of death and were through to the semi - finals. As I rejoiced with my teammates, glorious joy overflowed from my heart.
I knew then that it was not just about shiny pieces of solid metal or having the greatly coveted championship title to our name, but rather, it was having conquered towering giants and facing my fears with my teammates and coming out stronger as friends.
Now, whenever someone calls me masochistic, I can tell them confidently that this arduous path, no matter how demanding, is worth the journey as long as I am with Crescent Hockey, the family God forgot to give me.
